New Delhi, February 11: Indian opener Abhishek Sharma has been hospitalised in New Delhi due to a stomach infection, casting doubt over his availability for India’s T20 World Cup match against Namibia on February 12.
Sources said the 25-year-old has been admitted to a private hospital for the past two days and is undergoing medical tests to determine the exact cause of the issue.
“Abhishek has been admitted to a private hospital in Delhi due to a stomach infection. Some tests are being done to ascertain the problem. It is still not clear whether he will be discharged today. The match against Namibia looks doubtful as of now,” a BCCI source said.
The Indian team management, however, remains hopeful that Sharma will recover in time for the high-profile clash against Pakistan in Colombo on February 15.
It is understood that Sharma had attended a dinner hosted by head coach Gautam Gambhir on Sunday but left earlier than the rest of the squad.
