Colombo, February 14: The highly anticipated India vs Pakistan group-stage match in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 on Sunday could be influenced by weather, with rain not entirely ruled out at the R Premadasa Stadium.

According to forecasts from AccuWeather, Colombo is expected to see 100% cloud cover on match day, with a moderate chance of rain in the evening hours. The game is scheduled for a 7:00 PM local start, with the toss at 6:30 PM.

Forecast details show that around 6:00 PM, about an hour before the match, there’s a 49% chance of rain. By 7:00 PM, the probability of precipitation drops to around 9%, but the cloud cover is predicted to remain full through 11:00 PM.

If rain halts play and the match cannot be completed, both teams will receive one point each, as India vs Pakistan does not have a reserve day in the group stage.

Both sides have so far won their first two matches in Group A. India, led by Suryakumar Yadav, defeated the United States and Namibia, and currently top the group with four points and a Net Run Rate (NRR) of +3.050. Pakistan also has four points, with victories over the Netherlands and USA and an NRR of +0.932.

Ahead of the clash, India’s wicketkeeper-batter Ishan Kishan said the Pakistan game “would be a special one” and emphasised the team’s focus on reading the conditions and playing accordingly once they reach the venue.

The weather remains a key factor as both sides prepare for one of cricket’s most intense rivalries under potentially overcast skies.
