Jammu , Feb 8 : Police have detained four persons in connection with the assault of a tourist in Jammu and Kashmir’s Doda district, officials said on Saturday.

According to officials, a written complaint was lodged at Police Station Bhaderwah by Suresh Kumar of Nagni Bhalra, Bhaderwah, regarding an incident that took place on Friday.

Police said they took immediate cognisance of the complaint and initiated preventive action under the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita to prevent any further escalation or breach of peace.

In connection with the case, four residents of Bhaderwah, identified as Javed Iqbal, Owais Ahmed, Khursheed Ahmed and Avinash Manhas, were detained.

All four have been produced before the Executive Magistrate, Bhaderwah, for further legal proceedings in accordance with the law.

Police reiterated their commitment to ensuring the safety and security of tourists and maintaining law and order in the district. Officials said any act that disturbs public peace, harmony, or public safety will be dealt with strictly as per the law.
