Kotdwar, Feb 2: Police have registered three cases following protests by Bajrang Dal over a shop named “Baba Dress,” owned by Mohammad Shoaib, citing potential confusion with the nearby Siddhbali Baba Hanuman temple.
The controversy reignited after Shoaib relocated his shop 30–40 meters from its original site. Protests on January 28 and 31 led to clashes between Bajrang Dal workers and Shoaib’s associates, including local gym owner Deepak Kumar.
The three cases include one against 30–40 unidentified protesters for disturbing public peace, a second filed by local resident Vakil Ahmed over abusive and casteist language, and a third by Kamal Prasad accusing Deepak Kumar and associates of threats and derogatory remarks.
Police conducted a flag march on February 1 to ensure peace and urged citizens to maintain communal harmony.
