Pattan, Jan 29: A man was killed and his brother injured after a truck collided with their vehicle in the Pattan area of north Kashmir on Thursday morning, officials said.
The accident occurred at Hyderbeigh when a truck bearing registration number JK03E 8418, travelling from Srinagar to Baramulla, collided with an Eco vehicle (JK04H 7988) coming from the opposite direction.
The driver of the Eco vehicle, identified as Javid Ahmad Najar, son of Ghulam Nabi Najar of Hygam, died on the spot, officials said.
His brother, Rayees Ahmad, who was also travelling in the vehicle, sustained injuries. He was first taken to a nearby hospital and later referred to JVC Hospital in Srinagar for further treatment.
Police said a case has been registered at Pattan Police Station and an investigation into the incident is underway.
