Srinagar, Jan 25: A man in Heerpora, Shopian district, was narrowly saved after a large heap of snow slid off a rooftop and buried him, officials said.
The snow fell within seconds, leaving the man completely trapped. Police personnel on nearby road duty heard the commotion and immediately rushed to the spot, digging through the snow with their bare hands.
The man was pulled out alive, shaken but safe, and received immediate assistance. Locals praised the police for their prompt action, noting that any delay could have resulted in tragedy.
Authorities reminded residents in snow-affected areas to exercise caution and clear accumulated snow from rooftops safely. Police continue to remain on high alert to respond to emergencies amid ongoing winter conditions.
