Srinagar, Jan 20: Security forces successfully detected and recovered an improvised explosive device (IED) planted along the Srinagar-Baramulla highway in the Pattani area of Baramulla district on Tuesday, averting a potential tragedy.
Officials said the roadside IED at Takiya Tapper was spotted by a patrol party, and a bomb disposal squad was immediately deployed to neutralize the device.
The recovery comes less than a week before Republic Day, prompting heightened security measures across the Kashmir Valley amid concerns of potential terrorist activity.
