Srinagar , Jan 19 : Three flights were cancelled at the Srinagar International Airport on Monday following temporary airspace restrictions imposed in Delhi ahead of Republic Day rehearsals and enhanced security arrangements, officials said.
cancellations were directly linked to the closure of Delhi airspace during specific hours. “Three flights scheduled for today have been cancelled due to the Delhi airspace shutdown. All other flights are operating as per schedule,” the official said.
Earlier, Srinagar Airport authorities issued a passenger advisory stating that certain flights to and from Delhi had been cancelled by respective airlines. Passengers were advised to verify the latest flight status with airlines before leaving for the airport to avoid inconvenience.
The official further clarified that apart from these limited cancellations, flight operations at Srinagar Airport remain smooth and uninterrupted.
According to a government-issued Notice to Airmen (NOTAM), airspace over Delhi will remain closed daily from 10:20 AM to 12:45 PM for six consecutive days due to Republic Day parade rehearsals and associated aerial displays.
Officials at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport said that during the restricted window, air traffic movements are being regulated, resulting in temporary rescheduling, diversions, or cancellations of some flights. Airlines have been asked to plan operations accordingly and inform passengers in advance.
Airport authorities in Delhi have also advised travellers to stay updated through airline alerts and airport notifications, as additional operational adjustments may be made depending on security requirements.
Passengers travelling between Srinagar and Delhi have been urged to remain in touch with their airlines for real-time updates as the restrictions remain in force.
