Snowfall Likely in Higher Reaches, Heavy Rain Expected in Srinagar
Srinagar: Weather conditions in the Kashmir Valley are expected to witness a marked shift from January 22, bringing relief after a prolonged dry spell, according to the Meteorological Department.
MeT Director Dr. Mukhtar Ahmad said an active weather system is likely to affect the region, resulting in good snowfall over higher reaches and hilly areas of the Valley. He added that Srinagar and adjoining low-lying areas may experience heavy rainfall starting from the evening of January 22.
The anticipated change is expected to bring an end to the extended dry phase that Srinagar has been facing for several weeks. Officials said the incoming precipitation will help improve overall weather conditions and prove beneficial for water resources, agriculture, and the environment across the region.
Residents have been advised to stay updated with official weather advisories as the system approaches.
