Rajouri/Jammu, Jan 19: A 45-year-old woman was found tied with a rope inside a plastic bag in a remote area of Rajouri district late Sunday, police officials said.
The woman, identified as Azeem Akhtar, was rescued by locals who noticed the bag lying in an isolated stretch of the Tandwal area. She was immediately freed and rushed to Government Medical College (GMC) Hospital, where her condition is reported to be serious.
Police said the woman was found alive but in a critical state. A case has been taken up, and an investigation is underway to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Officials added that the police are waiting for Akhtar’s condition to stabilise so that her statement can be recorded, which is expected to provide crucial leads in the case.
