Srinagar , Jan 16 : The Meteorological Department in Kashmir has forecast snowfall in higher-altitude areas and light to moderate rainfall across the plains over the next few days. Officials said the fresh weather system is expected to ease the prolonged dry spell that has affected the region.
MeT Director Dr Mukhtar Ahmad said the upcoming rain and snow will also help improve air quality in Srinagar, where pollution levels have risen due to extended dry conditions. He noted that precipitation helps settle dust and reduces the concentration of pollutants in the air.
Advisories have been issued urging caution for people travelling to hilly and snow-prone areas. At the same time, farmers and residents have welcomed the forecast, seeing it as beneficial for the environment and overall weather conditions in the Valley.
