Srinagar, Jan 8: Authorities on Thursday closed the Daksum–Sinthan road stretch as a precautionary measure due to icy conditions.
Officials said the road has been closed to all vehicular traffic in the interest of public safety, as ice formation on the surface has made the carriageway extremely slippery and unsafe for movement.
They added that efforts are underway to improve road conditions, with sprinkling of salt and urea being carried out to melt the ice and restore safe passage.
