Srinagar, Jan 1: Fire & Emergency Services responded to a series of fire incidents across Kashmir over the past 24 hours, preventing further spread and ensuring no loss of life.

In Sopore, a single-story shopping line at Kongrusa was damaged, while three shops in Dangiwacha’s main market also caught fire. Rural areas saw haystacks burning at Kunzer, Wanigam, and Peernia, with a single-story structure of the Jhelum Hydro Project affected at Peernia.

In Srinagar, Chinar trees were damaged by fire at Shivpora, and a similar incident occurred in Adlash, Anantnag. Kupwara district reported a double-story house fire at Lastiyal, a single-story house at Arambagh, and two wooden sheds in Handwara’s Washipora.

South Kashmir incidents included a fire at Jamia Ahli Hadees mosque in Anantnag, haystacks damaged in Kathnarg Deknarg, Kulgam, and a double-story cowshed in Pulwama’s Keller area. Bandipora also saw a haystack catch fire in Madain Mohalla.

Officials confirmed that firefighting teams reached all sites promptly, containing the flames and preventing casualties. Damage assessment of property is ongoing.
