Srinagar, Dec 31: Jammu and Kashmir is likely to experience generally cloudy weather over the next few days, with rain and snowfall expected in several areas, according to the Meteorological Department.

From the night of December 31 through the morning of January 1, light to moderate rain or snowfall is expected at most places. Higher and extreme upper reaches of north and central Kashmir may receive moderate to heavy snowfall during this period.

On January 2, partly to generally cloudy conditions are forecast, with brief spells of light rain or snowfall at isolated locations. From January 3 to 5, weather is expected to remain partly cloudy, while January 6 may bring light snowfall over select higher reaches of north and central Kashmir.

The forecast further indicates partly cloudy conditions from January 7 to 8, partly to generally cloudy skies on January 9 and 10, and partly cloudy weather from January 11 to 13.

Authorities have advised travellers and transporters to follow traffic and administrative advisories, while the plains of the Jammu division may experience moderate fog, with dense fog in isolated areas over the next 48 hours.
