Srinagar, Dec 29, 2025: The Economic Offences Wing (EOW), Kashmir, under the Crime Branch J&K, recorded a landmark year in 2025, taking resolute action against a wide array of economic crimes across the Valley. Demonstrating unwavering commitment to accountability, transparency, and the rule of law, the Wing tackled complex cases of fraud, cheating, forgery, financial irregularities, and corporate malpractices, reinforcing public confidence in governance and institutional systems.

Over the year, the EOW successfully disposed of 100 FIRs involving serious and intricate economic offences. These investigations required detailed scrutiny of documentary and digital evidence, as well as sustained coordination with government departments, banks, and financial institutions. The Wing’s professionalism and dedication ensured timely and effective disposal, sending a strong message against economic wrongdoing.

In addition to registered cases, the Wing resolved 1,270 complaints from citizens and government agencies. Each complaint was carefully assessed on factual and legal grounds, with appropriate legal action initiated wherever necessary. Preventive vigilance was also emphasized, with 290 preliminary and miscellaneous enquiries conducted to detect offences early and prevent disputes from escalating into full-blown litigation. Many cases were resolved at the enquiry stage itself, saving public resources and ensuring swift redressal.

Job-related frauds, particularly fraudulent promises of government or overseas employment targeting unemployed youth, formed a significant portion of the cases handled. The Wing also investigated land frauds, impersonation, document forgeries, cheating, and misappropriation of public funds by public servants. Corporate and company frauds involving financial irregularities and deceptive practices were also thoroughly examined.

Organized networks of habitual offenders, land brokers, and professional fraudsters were identified and booked under the law, sending a strong deterrent message. Efficient supervision, regular review meetings, and enhanced coordination contributed to timely and effective case disposal.

The EOW Kashmir continues its mission to protect public trust and ensure a transparent economic environment. Citizens are urged to remain vigilant, report economic offences promptly, and support the Wing’s efforts in maintaining the integrity of the Valley’s economic and institutional systems.
