Security forces are deployed in Polo View Market and in and around S.K. Park in Srinagar ahead of the sit-in protest call given by Srinagar MP Syed Agha Ruhullah Mehdi over the issue of reservation rationalisation.
The gates of S.K. Park near Polo View are locked, with security personnel positioned both inside and outside the park to prevent any gathering. Police presence is also visible across Polo View Market as a precautionary measure.
Meanwhile, MP Agha Ruhullah Mehdi is placed under house arrest at his residence, while PDP MLA Waheed Para is not allowed to move out of his residence at Barzulla–Baghat, where police and forces are deployed at the main gate.
Despite restrictions, a few open merit women students arrive near Polo View to express support for the protest. The sit-in programme is scheduled to begin at 11 am, even as security arrangements remain tight to maintain law and order.
