Srinagar, Dec 26: Kashmir experienced a slight rise in minimum temperatures on Friday, offering residents some relief from the severe cold. Srinagar recorded a low of 0.2°C, up from minus 2.2°C on Wednesday night.
Sonamarg remained the coldest spot in the region at minus 4.7°C, followed by Gulmarg at minus 4.5°C. Pahalgam recorded a low of minus 1.6°C, while Qazigund, Kokernag, and Kupwara registered 0.2°C, 0.8°C, and minus 2.4°C, respectively.
The Meteorological Department has predicted generally dry weather until December 28. However, light snow is expected at isolated higher reaches on December 29, with the possibility of light rain in the plains and light snow in higher elevations from December 30 to January 1. Residents and tourists are advised to stay updated on weather developments as the New Year approaches.
