Leh: Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Kavinder Gupta, on Thursday launched the B-3 Helicopter Services aimed at significantly improving connectivity, tourism, and emergency response capabilities across the Union Territory.

The new helicopter service will operate at subsidized rates, making aerial travel more accessible for residents as well as tourists visiting remote and high-altitude regions of Ladakh. Officials said the initiative is expected to greatly benefit areas that remain cut off during harsh winter months.

Speaking at the launch ceremony, LG Gupta said the introduction of the B-3 service marks a major step toward strengthening Ladakh’s emergency evacuation system, enhancing tourist mobility, and providing reliable aerial support to far-flung communities.

The administration has been focusing on boosting tourism infrastructure and improving access to remote destinations, and the launch of this helicopter service is seen as part of that larger development plan.

The B-3 helicopter, known for its high-altitude performance, is capable of operating in challenging terrains, making it ideal for Ladakh’s difficult mountainous landscape.
