India , Dec 11 : India’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Parvathaneni Harish, called for a practical and balanced approach in dealing with the Taliban during the UN Security Council briefing on the UN Assistance Mission in Afghanistan.
He said India supports a policy that encourages constructive behaviour rather than relying only on punitive steps, which he warned would allow the current situation to remain unchanged as it has for more than four years.
Harish urged the UN and the wider international community to adopt measured and thoughtful tools of engagement that can bring lasting benefits to the people of Afghanistan.
