Kralgund, Handwara, Nov 25 Apni Party President Altaf Bukhari on Tuesday urged the Prime Minister and the Home Minister to begin the “promised dialogue” with the youth of Jammu and Kashmir, saying young people are feeling frustrated and require a clear roadmap for the future.
Addressing a workers’ convention at Kralgund in Handwara, Bukhari said the Centre must initiate the dialogue process without further delay. “The Prime Minister had spoken about dialogue with the youth. That process should start now,” he said.
Bukhari reiterated his demand for the restoration of statehood, maintaining that it should follow a “genuine and meaningful” dialogue with the people of J&K. He asked political parties in the region to set aside their differences and jointly push for talks between New Delhi and the people of the Union Territory. “The people want statehood and want their pending issues resolved. It is the responsibility of leaders to take this demand to the ground and seek people’s support,” he said.
The Apni Party chief also called for amendments to the domicile law, suggesting that the existing 15-year requirement be increased to 35 years to safeguard local jobs and land. He said this change should be implemented by the J&K government.
The convention was attended by Apni Party Political Affairs Committee Chairman Dilawar Mir, party spokesperson and former MLA Rafiabad Yawar Dilawar Mir, District President Kupwara and former MLA Karnah, Langate Constituency Incharge Munawar Khaja, and several other senior leaders.
