Srinagar, Nov 25: The Directorate of Sheep Husbandry Kashmir on Tuesday organised a Livestock Distribution Programme at its Lal Mandi campus in Srinagar. The event commenced at 11:30 AM and witnessed participation from officials, shepherds, and stakeholders from across the Valley.
MLA Karna Javaid Ahmad Mirchal attended the programme as the chief guest. In his address, he appreciated the department’s efforts toward strengthening the livestock sector and emphasized the importance of preserving the region’s traditional breeds.
During the event, the department handed over two local livestock breeds to shepherds as part of its initiative to preserve and promote indigenous genetic resources. Officials stated that the programme aimed to support shepherd communities, enhance sustainable livestock rearing practices, and ensure the survival of the Valley’s unique sheep breeds.
