Kulgam, Nov 19: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Wednesday inaugurated a two-day J&K Regional Trade Fair at Government Degree College Kulgam, held under Mission YUVA.
Addressing a large gathering, the Chief Minister said that unemployment continues to pose a serious challenge, and such initiatives will help empower youth to earn a dignified livelihood while also creating employment for others. “Events like this encourage innovation, entrepreneurship, and self-reliance among the young generation,” he said.
The event witnessed the presence of Health and Education Minister Sakina Itoo, MLA Kulgam M.Y. Tarigami, Deputy Commissioner Kulgam Athar Aamir Khan, MLA Devsar Feroz Ahmad Shah, along with district officers and dignitaries.
With more than 100 exhibitors, the trade fair showcased a vibrant display of products from women entrepreneurs, specially-abled entrepreneurs, and cooperative societies. Stalls featured a wide range of items, including GI-tagged Pashmina shawls, Kani shawls, Sozni embroidery, Basohli paintings, as well as high-quality agricultural products and local crafts.
The fair aims to provide a platform for local talent, promote regional craftsmanship, and boost economic opportunities in the district.
