SRINAGAR OCTOBER 27
In a series of strong statements, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah addressed several political issues while emphasizing that his government’s priority remains solving public problems.
Speaking to reporters, Omar Abdullah said that invoking the Public Safety Act (PSA) against Mehraj Malik was wrong, calling for a more just and democratic approach.
Referring to senior leader Mian Altaf, Omar Abdullah said, “Mian Altaf is like a father to me.”
He also cautioned against unnecessary comparisons between Mian Altaf and Agha Ruhullah, stating, “Do not compare Agha Ruhullah with Mian Altaf.”
When asked about political alliances, Omar Abdullah was clear — “We will not deceive anyone.” He added that resolving public issues is the government’s top priority.
Omar further underlined the distinction between parties, saying, “There is a difference between the BJP and the National Conference.”
Concluding his remarks, he said, “I don’t want to comment on Agha Ruhullah.”
Omar Abdullah’s comments reflect both political restraint and a renewed emphasis on governance, signaling that his focus remains on the people rather than political rivalries.
