Qazigund (Kulgam) Oct 26: Kulgam Police on Sunday arrested two Punjab residents and recovered a large quantity of contraband substances from them at Navyug Tunnel Qazigund in Kulgam.
A senior police official said a police party of police post Navyug Tunnel led by DO Bilal Ahmad under the supervision of ASP Highway and SDPO Qazigund following the directions from SSP Kulgam during naka checking, one vehicle bearing registration number PB26H 7292 coming from Qazigund towards Jammu, was stopped for checking near Navyug Tunnel, during checking, 24 Nylonbags was found loaded in the said vehicle”, he said.
“Upon checking of the said bags, it was found to contain a banned contraband substance poppy straw like substance 23Kg”, he said.
The duo was identified as 1.Gurdeep Singh son of Gurmej Singh of Hoshiarpora Punjab 2. Sukhjinder Singh son of Jaskaran Singh of Hoshiarpora Punjab”, he added.
“A case under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered at police station Qazigund, and an investigation has been taken up”, police added
