Budgam, October 23, 2025:
Continuing its drive against drug menace, Budgam Police arrested a drug peddler and recovered contraband substances from his possession in the Soibugh area.
A police party from Police Post Soibugh, led by ASI Nazir Ahmad, established a checkpoint at Warpora/Galwanpora Crossing and intercepted a three-wheeler (Passenger Auto) bearing registration number JK01Q-7851. During checking, charas-like substances in grinded form weighing about 376 grams, along with another 27 grams of the same substance in a disposable bag, were recovered from the vehicle.
The driver, identified as Hilal Ahmad Sheikh, son of Bashir Ahmad Sheikh, resident of Chodrybagh Sebdan, was arrested on the spot. The vehicle used in the commission of crime was also seized.
Accordingly, a case FIR No. 295/2025 under sections 8/20 of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Budgam, and investigation has been taken up.
