Udaipur, October 15, 2025: Jammu and Kashmir participated actively in the two-day State and Union Territory Tourism Ministers’ Conference held at Udaipur on 14th and 15th October 2025.
The J&K delegation, led by Advisor to the Chief Minister, Nasir Aslam Wani, included Dr. Vikas Gupta, Director Tourism Jammu; Waseem Raja, Joint Director Tourism Kashmir; and Arif Lone, Assistant Director Tourism Jammu. Advisor Wani delivered a comprehensive presentation highlighting the tourism potential of Jammu & Kashmir and the Government’s commitment to developing the region as a vibrant, all-season tourist destination.
Key destinations identified for development under Budget Announcement Initiatives included Gulmarg, Sonmarg, Gurez, and the pilgrimage circuit of Sukrala Devi, Shiv Khori, Machail Mata, Sarthal Devi, and Kheer Bhawani. The presentation emphasized improving infrastructure, enhancing connectivity, and creating enriched visitor experiences, with a focus on adventure, heritage, wellness, and spiritual tourism.
The conference brought together Tourism Ministers, Secretaries, and senior officials from across India to deliberate on strategies for destination development, tourism-led growth, and employment generation. The event was inaugurated by Union Minister of Tourism, Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, who highlighted the importance of collaboration between the Centre and States to strengthen India’s tourism ecosystem and enhance the country’s global appeal.
The conference served as a vital platform for sharing best practices, forging partnerships, and aligning State and UT tourism strategies with national priorities, signaling J&K’s ambition to emerge as a prime tourist destination in the country.
