JAMMU OCTOBER 15: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Wednesday announced its candidates for the upcoming Nagrota and Budgam Assembly by-elections in Jammu and Kashmir, scheduled to be held on November 11.
According to the party statement, Devyani Rana will contest from the Nagrota Assembly constituency, while Agha Syed Mohsin has been named the BJP candidate from the Budgam Assembly seat.
The by-elections for both constituencies will be conducted on November 11, with polling to take place from 7 AM to 6 PM. The counting of votes will be held on November 14, and the entire election process will be completed before November 16, as per the schedule announced by the Election Commission of India (ECI).
Both the Nagrota and Budgam Assembly seats have remained vacant for nearly a year — Nagrota following the demise of BJP stalwart Devender Singh Rana, and Budgam after Chief Minister Omar Abdullah retained his Ganderbal seat.
With these announcements, the BJP has formally kicked off its campaign for the by-polls, which are expected to witness a high-stakes contest as the party seeks to consolidate its position in both the Jammu and Kashmir divisions.
