KANPUR UP: A shocking incident of brutality has emerged from Kanpur district, where a dispute over goat grazing led to the death of a 55-year-old woman.
According to reports, Rani Devi, a resident of the Narwal police station area, was allegedly beaten to death by her dominant neighbors following an argument over grazing goats.
Family members alleged that when they had earlier gone to the police station after the first altercation, the police refused to register their complaint and instead advised them to seek medical treatment. They claimed that had the police taken timely action, the second attack could have been prevented.
The incident took place on the night of October 2, when Rani Devi had a heated exchange with her neighbor Satyam over grazing goats. She was injured during the altercation but the next day, Satyam and his family allegedly attacked her again — this time brutally beating her to death.
Enraged family members placed the body outside the police station and held a protest, demanding justice.
Police have arrested one accused while the search for others is underway. ACP Abhishek Pandey stated that a case of murder has been registered and an investigation is in progress.
