Srinagar, Sept 19: Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Anshul Garg (IAS) on friday said that restoration work on the Srinagar–Jammu National Highway has been carried out on a war footing and significant progress has been achieved. He informed that for the past four days, continuous traffic movement has been allowed on the highway.
“Nearly 5,500 fruit-laden trucks have been cleared over the last two days through both the Mughal Road and the National Highway, ensuring that the Valley’s produce reaches Jammu and beyond,” he said.
The Divisional Commissioner further added that vehicular movement, including for essential commodities, has been running smoothly since early this morning on both routes. He assured that the temporary shortage of petrol and diesel will be fully resolved by this evening.
Appealing to the public not to resort to panic buying, he said: “We request people to rationalize their requirements. From this evening onwards, the situation will improve substantially and wherever shortages were felt, relief will be visible.”
