SRINAGAR, September 15: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah was the main attraction at the Engineer’s Day celebration organised by the J&K Electrical Engineering Graduates Association (JKEEGA) at SKICC, Srinagar, on September 15, 2025. The event, held under the theme “Power Sector for a Vibrant Economy in J&K,” commemorated the birth anniversary of Bharat Ratna Sir M. Visvesvaraya and highlighted the contributions of engineers to nation-building and technological progress.
Addressing a large gathering of power engineers from across Jammu & Kashmir, Omar Abdullah lauded their efforts in strengthening the region’s energy infrastructure and underscored the importance of the power sector for J&K’s economic growth. His presence as Chief Guest added special significance to the occasion.
Shri Shakeel Rafiqi, Regional Head, NMDC, Jammu, also attended the event, which showcased the achievements of engineers working in J&K’s power sector.
Speaking on the occasion, MD KPDCL Mehmood Shah said, “This day is to celebrate the heroes of engineering — the real ones who work tirelessly to light up the lives of people. This day is celebrated for them.”
Er. Pirzada Hidayatullah, President of JKEEGA, said the celebration served as a platform to honour engineers’ efforts and reaffirm their commitment to advancing the power sector for a stronger economy in Jammu & Kashmir.
