Kulgam, August 7: As the Akhal encounter in South Kashmir’s Kulgam district entered its seventh consecutive day on Wednesday, Kulgam Police undertook a significant humanitarian operation by safely evacuating dozens of civilians from the vicinity of the ongoing gunfight.
The evacuation was carried out amid continued firing and heightened tension in the area, with security forces maintaining a strict cordon around the encounter site. The swift and well-coordinated response by the police ensured the safe relocation of vulnerable families, minimizing the risk to civilian lives.
Local residents hailed the timely intervention, expressing gratitude for the efforts made by the authorities to prioritize public safety. Many described the move as “life-saving,” given the intensity and duration of the operation.
