Initiated on Friday evening, the cordon-and-search operation in the dense Akhal forest was launched following specific intelligence about terrorist presence. So far, it has claimed the lives of two terrorists.
Officials said that after the initial firefight on Friday evening, the operation was temporarily suspended for the night, only to resume early the next day under reinforced ground deployment.
