Kupwara, July 27:-
An extensive drive against illegal medical shops in Tehsil Karnah of Kupwara district, approximately 180 kilometers from Srinagar, resulted in the immediate closure of seven illegal drug sale establishments today. The operation was initiated in response to a complaint forwarded by the DO Police Post Taad, Karnah.
In a statement issued to the News Agency Reads that the inspection was conducted by a joint team of drug control officers, including the Drug Control Officer (DCO) Kupwara, DCO Baramulla-HQ, and DO PP Taad Mr. G M Malik. The entire operation was carried out under overall supervision of Assistant Drugs Controller Dr. Zaffer Ahmad Bhat and other office bearers from District Baramulla and Kupwara drug control administrations.
During the drive, the entire Taad area, along with its adjoining localities including Gabra, Prada, Dhanni, Panjtara, and Hajitra, was thoroughly inspected and seven illegal medical shops were sealed on spot.
The statement further Reads that the inspection further revealed that several licenced wholesale drug establishments, were found to be supplying goods to these illegally operating shops. This is a significant violation as medical shops require proper licenses and adherence to regulations regarding the sale and distribution of drugs. The sealing of these shops underscores the commitment of the drug control department to ensure public health and safety by curbing the menace of unauthorized drug sales.
