Kupwara: A man was left dead and three others rescued safely and subsequently hospitalised after they fell unconscious while carrying out dredging work inside a well in Lalpora area of Lolab in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district, reports and officials said on Saturday evening.

The individuals identified as Ghulam Nabi Sheikh (40), Manzoor Ahmad Mir (45), Ghulam Mohammad Mir (65), and Mohammad Rafiq Lachi (45), were immediately pulled out of the water source by locals and Police personnel and taken to Sub-District Hospital (SDH) Sogam for medical treatment, however one among them, Manzoor Ahmad Mir, was declared as dead on arrival.

Among the three persons, two Mohammad Rafiq Lachi and Ghulam Nabi Sheikh, have been referred to GMC Handwara for preferential treatment.

Confirming the incident, an official told that facts around the incident are being assessed for a better understanding of the occurrence of the tragic incident. “Unfortunately, one among the four persons had died and the rest undergoing treatment,” added the official.
