Jammu, July 25 :The Directorate of School Education, Jammu has directed all Chief Education Officers (CEOs) of Jammu Division to urgently submit detailed information regarding the implementation of the Three-Language Formula in government and government-aided schools.
As per official communication No. JD/JSK/2025/1221-33 dated 24 July 2025, all CEOs have been asked to compile data on the following key points:
The third language currently being taught in schools (such as Dogri, Kashmiri, Gojri, Sanskrit, or any other local language).
The total number of students enrolled for each third language.
The availability and status of subject-specific teachers for the respective languages.
This move is in line with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, which emphasizes the importance of multilingual education and the inclusion of regional languages at the foundational and middle stages of schooling. The Directorate aims to assess the current status of third language education in order to strengthen curriculum planning and address gaps in teacher availability.
The required data is to be submitted in a structured format, which includes district name, school name, number of students, number of teachers, and the specific third language being taught. The deadline for submission is two days from the date of the order, making it a time-bound directive.
The circular was signed by Gurdev Kumar (JKAS) and dispatched to all 10 districts of Jammu Division.
This directive reflects the administration’s renewed focus on promoting local languages and ensuring equitable access to multilingual learning across the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
Further action will likely follow based on the analysis of the submitted reports.
