Drass, July 16, 2025:
In the early hours today, at approximately 05:45 AM, a civilian vehicle (Traveller) met with a tragic accident around 500 meters from Gumri towards Drass. The vehicle was carrying 17 passengers at the time of the mishap.
The accident claimed two lives, while eight passengers sustained serious injuries and six suffered minor injuries. Fortunately, the driver escaped without injury.
Responding with remarkable speed and efficiency, the Indian Army reached the accident site immediately and launched a swift rescue operation. All injured individuals were given urgent first aid at the MI Room, Gumri, and later shifted to the Sub-District Hospital (SDH) Drass for further medical treatment.
The Army’s timely intervention played a crucial role in saving lives and ensuring quick evacuation under challenging terrain and weather conditions.
Authorities have initiated an investigation to determine the cause of the accident.
