Deputy Commissioner Doda, Harvinder Singh chaired a review meeting to assess the implementation of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) in the district. The meeting focused on evaluating both rural and urban housing projects, beneficiary progress, and financial disbursements under the scheme.
It was apprised in the meeting that 2,093 houses have been sanctioned under PMAY-Urban, out of that 1,968 houses (61.44%) have been completed. It was informed that houses 81.02% in Doda town, 82.47% in Bhaderwah town, 53.66% Bhaderwah Planning Area and 75.56% in Thathri Town have been completed. Additionally, a total of ₹282.91 crore has been disbursed to beneficiaries in phased installments, covering plinth, lintel, roof, and completion stages.
Under PMAY-Gramin, 90% of the targeted 30,415 houses have been completed, while 2,935 houses remain under construction.
The DC instructed officials to expedite the completion of all remaining houses and take action against 1,200 defaulters who received installments but failed to complete their houses. He emphasized close coordination with revenue officials to facilitate recoveries and ensure beneficiaries adhere to project timelines. He directed the officers to ensure completion of all pending houses before 31st March 2025.
DC further stressed the importance of regular field visits by Officers to monitor on-ground progress and assist beneficiaries in completing their homes.
He reiterated the administration’s commitment to the “Housing for All” mission and urged all stakeholders to work in coordination to meet the scheme’s objectives within the stipulated timeframe.
