JAMMU, Mar 1: BJP National President Jagat Prakash Nadda today asked the party MLAs to rise above the allure of political posts and maintain deep connections with citizens besides prioritizing constituency development.
“Posts are transient, but the trust of the people is enduring,” he said, while addressing the party MLAs during concluding session of two-day `Vidhayak Prashikshan Shivir’ at Katra on Saturday.
Nadda further emphasized the need for MLAs to be “good listeners” to effectively resolve public grievances and regularly visit SC/ST communities to ensure inclusive development.
Drawing from his own experience as an MLA and Leader of the Opposition, he gave certain tips to the party legislators on how to behave and engage with people . He advised legislators to proactively engage with communities through platforms like Krishi Vigyan Kendras, Asha workers’ meetings, and parent-teacher interactions in Government schools.
Highlighting the importance of “Karyakarta Nirman”, Nadda stressed for better liaison between elected representatives and office bearers of the organization.
The second day of the training workshop witnessed insightful deliberations on leadership, governance, and public outreach, with speakers underscoring the imperative of organizational training for the elected representatives.
Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh, who also attended the concluding session, told media persons on the sidelines of the workshop that BJP MLAs were capable enough for evidence based debate in the Assembly.
“Ruling party needs to be questioned on the non-implementation of key Central schemes in Jammu and Kashmir, which could not keep pace with other parts of the country,” he said and hoped that BJP MLAs would highlight public issues with logic and facts.
Earlier, the day commenced with a welcome address by Sat Sharma, BJP President of Jammu & Kashmir, followed by a session on “Panch Nishta and Panch Parivartan” (Five Commitments and Five Transformations) led by Shiv Prakash, National Joint General Secretary (Organization).
Rupesh Kumar, Prant Pracharak of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), delivered lecture on Jammu & Kashmir’s contemporary socio-political landscape and its historical significance in India’s freedom struggle.
Former Rajya Sabha MP, Vinay Sahasrabuddhe conducted an interactive workshop on office management, public speaking, team-building, and social etiquette, equipping MLAs with tools for effective governance and public engagement.
The sessions concluded with a resolve by the participants to adopt a service-oriented approach, aligning with the BJP’s mantra of “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas.”
National General Secretary & Prabhari J&K Tarun Chugh; Leader of the Opposition in J&K, Sunil Sharma; General Secretary (Organization) Ashok Koul, MP Lok Sabha Jugal Kishore Sharma, General Secretaries Dr Devinder Kumar Manyal & Vibodh Gupta, MP Rajya Sabha Ghulam Ali Khatana, former Dy Chief Ministers, Dr Nirmal Singh and Kavinder Gupta, former BJP President Ravinder Raina, District President Reasi Rohit Dubey, besides other senior leaders of the party graced the occasion.
All the 28 BJP MLAs attended the two-day training workshop, spread in ten sessions. The workshop aimed to equip BJP legislators, most of whom are first time MLAs, with the skills needed to serve their constituencies effectively and contribute meaningfully to the legislative process.
During one of the sessions, former Speaker Kavinder Gupta and two times MLA, R S Pathania, trained the party legislators about procedure and proceedings of the Legislative Assembly.
Before attending the training workshop on concluding day, J P Nadda and Dr Jitendra Singh visited Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine atop Trikuta Hills and paid their obeisance at the sanctum sanctorum. They were accompanied by BJP leaders Tarun Chugh, Sat Sharma and others.
Upon their arrival this morning at Katra, the base camp of the shrine, the dignitaries were received by Anshul Garg, Chief Executive Officer, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board. The CEO briefed the Union Ministers about the various initiatives undertaken by the Shrine Board and highlighted the efforts to upgrade and expand the existing infrastructure with the aim of providing enhanced facilities and services to the ever-increasing number of pilgrims visiting the holy shrine.
