KATHUA, Dec 7: Reiterating that Narendra Modi Government has clear cut policy of chasing the terrorists to finish, Union Minister in PMO with Independent Charge of Science and Technology, Dr Jitendra Singh today said that not only the terrorists but their over-ground supporters and sympathisers will also be seriously dealt under law.The Union Minister, while talking to reporters here today on the sidelines of a Public Darbar and launching of various road projects, alleged that the development was retarded in Kathua-Doda Parliamentary constituency during 10 years of UPA rule as the public representatives of that period failed to come up to the expectations of the people.Dr Jitendra Singh said the development got an impetus all over country in general and J&K in particular during last 10 years of Narendra Modi Government whose basic mantra is to ensure ease of living for common masses. He said public representatives during Modi rule also sincerely worked to take his agenda of development forward.
The Union Minister said that his Parliamentary constituency of Udhampur-Kathua –Doda has earned a unique distinction of having one of the highest number of roads built under Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY).
Dr Jitendra Singh said that to ease out the problems of the people, Public Darbar was held regularly in his constituency during which direct interaction was held with the people about various issues confronting them and some of the issues were got solved instantly.
He said during last some time due to elections the public darbar could not be held. However, the process has been restarted now.
Dr Jitendra Singh said this Parliamentary constituency didn’t get such attention for development which it got during Narendra Modi rule.
In response to a question about cutting the water connection of illegally settled Rohingyas in Jammu  region, Dr Jitendra Singh said that Modi Government has a clear-cut stand in this regard as proactive and result oriented action has not only been taken against terrorists but there are clear cut instruction from Home Ministry that the over-ground supporters of the terrorists will also not be spared and dealt sternly under law.
Dr Jitendra Singh announced that for overcoming the unemployment problem in his constituency, he recently held a meeting with Chief of Army Staff Gen Upendra Dwivedi and discussed the issue of holding a recruitment drive for youth of this region into the Army. He said this was a long pending demand as being the martial race youth of this region have aptitude for joining the army.
Dr Jitendra Singh said that Gen Dwivedi in principle has agreed to hold the recruitment drive in Kathua in March 2025. He said already one such drive was held in November this year.
Dr Jitendra Singh, while highlighting the development which took place in Kathua district during last ten years said that Homeopathic College has been established and the admission process for the first year students is underway. He said Bio-Tech Park has been constructed at Ghati, Kathua and Government intends to run it on public private mode so that the employment avenues for the youth can be created. He said besides Mantalai Project will also be run on private public mode and a job fair will also be held in Kathua.
The Union Minister while terming the Gurdaspur –Jammu gas pipeline a game changer said now the cooking gas will reach to the people in their kitchens. It is another package of Modi Government after Ujwala scheme and PM Awas Yojna, he added.
Earlier, Dr Jitendra Singh held a Public Darbar at village Parole in block Barnoti and inaugurated multiple road projects.
This was the second such Public Darbar of Dr Jitendra Singh in district Kathua in a fortnight and fourth in this district within  last few months.
A cross-section of locals from the village and its adjoining areas, attended the programme to bring their issues directly to the Union Minister’s notice and seek their resolution. During today’s durbar, many issues of public importance were resolved on the spot.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Jitendra Singh assured the public that the government led by Prime Minister, Narendra Modi  is making tireless efforts to ensure ease of living for all sections of the society, irrespective of their faith, caste and region. He reiterated the commitment to improve the lives of citizens and focus public hearing as well as  delivery of essential services to the people at their doorstep.
Dr Jitendra Singh pointed out that he and his team are now holding  public durbars at block and Panchayat level also with an objective to overcome any inadequacies in governance on the part of local administrative machinery.
The Public Durbar has emerged as a one-stop outlet for the common people to get in touch with Dr Jitendra Singh to seek both redressal of their grievances, and resolution of issues directly with the intervention of the Union Minister.
During this year, Dr Jitendra Singh has held several public durbars in the districts of Kathua, Udhampur and Doda.
Earlier, Union Minister inaugurated three roads, including L034-Block Boundary Kathua to Boura under Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY), fulfilling the long demand of the local population. The 14.2 km road caters to historic temple of Mata Sundri situated on the outskirts of village Parole. It also provides connectivity to habitations, namely Baura, Bindal, Bindli and Lari, having a population of 821 souls as per Census 2001. It also facilitates the local people with better connectivity to reach the district headquarters.
The road was sanctioned under PMGSY-I for the Stage-I in the year 2016 and for Stage-II in 2018 for an estimated cost of Rs. 1692.49 lakh and Rs 669.68 lakh respectively. Dr Jitendra Singh had laid the foundation stone of the road on 27th December, 2016.
Today, the Union Minister also inaugurated through a virtual mode 2nd L021 to Champal road, with a length of 11.83 kms, costing Rs 403.45 lakh. It will benefit 901 souls.
Dr Jitendra Singh also inaugurated 2.5 km road from L021 Dhar to Korkhana, with a sanctioned cost of Rs 171.24 lakh, benefiting 432 souls.
Addressing a public gathering on the occasion, Dr Jitendra Singh said the Government is taking numerous measures to improve connectivity in rural and far-flung areas of J&K, and spur infrastructure development of Kathua district. He informed that many other road projects in the district, nearing their completion will be inaugurated soon for better connectivity and ease of travel.
Highlighting the geographical significance of Kathua, Dr Jitendra Singh stated that the district will emerge as a hub of commercial activities in North India in the near future, offering employment opportunities to the local youth and boosting the local economy. He mentioned that the district has North India’s first Bio-tech Park, Seed Processing Plant and North India’s only Homeopathic College.
