Security forces today apprehended a militant associate and recovered arms and ammunition from his possession while a militant hideout was busted in Shopian. An official said that based on specific input, a MVCP was established by 46 RR of the army,53 CRPF Bn and SOG of Baramulla Police at Janbazpora-Binner road in Baramulla district. He said that during the checking, one Showkat Ahmad Bhat son of Abdul Salam Bhat of Naganad, of Kulgam district was apprehended along with a bag containing arms and ammunition.
The arms and ammunition recovered include one AK-47 rifle, one AK magazine and 20 rounds of ammunition.
The official said that Bhat was serving as Imam at Hanjan Behibagh and was missing since November 10, 2024.
In the meantime, security forces today busted a militant hideout during a search operation in Kellar area of Shopian district.
An official said that the hideout was busted at Bujbrod Pehli Pora in Keller forest area of the district Shopian. Cooking utensils and edibles were recovered from the hideout.
The operation was launched jointly by 44-RR, 34-RR, 2 Rajput of army, CRPF and Shopian police in Pahlipora, Heerpora, Padpawan, Bohrihalan, Donadoo in Keller area of Shopian district
