JAMMU, Nov 5: One hundred fifty-two fresh cases of dengue were reported in Jammu region yesterday, taking the total number of patients affected with the disease so far this year to 5211 in the Union Territory.

“With 87 more cases in Jammu district, the number of people affected with the vector-borne disease in the Jammu district has risen to 3243”, a health official said, adding, more than 90% cases have been reported from Municipal areas.
He said the Jammu district is followed by Samba with 555 cases while 483 cases were reported from Kathua, 260 from Udhampur, 227 from Reasi, 128 from Rajouri, 135 from Doda, 59 from Poonch, 49 from Ramban, 19 from Kishtwar and 19 from Kashmir region. Thirty-four local cases have also been reported from other states and UTs.
The official further informed that a total of 28261 patients were tested for dengue this year till yesterday out of which 5211 cases were found to be positive. However, it is a matter of relief that only one death has been reported due to dengue this year.
He further revealed that out of 152 dengue cases reported yesterday, 130 were adult (37 males and 93 females) and 22 were children (9 male and 13 female). “A total of 481 patients affected with dengue were hospitalized and of them 389 were discharged after successful treatment while 80 are still under treatment in various hospitals across the UT “, the official added.
