As part of the ongoing National Road Safety Month, Motor Vehicle Department today organised a free health cum eye check up camp at New Bus stand Jammu.
The camp was organised under the supervision of RTO Jammu Pankaj Bhagotra and on the direction of Transport Commissioner J&K Rajinder Singh Tara, in collaboration with the Transport Unions.
As many as 200 drivers and conductors participated in the camp and availed themselves of the facility like eye checkup for colour-blindness, defect in eye sight, test to check B.P, Sugar and HB.
Earlier a team from Red Cross Society also imparted First Responder Training to drivers which can help them to handle any urgency.
Speaking on the occasion the RTO informed the participants that the aim of organising such medical camps is to spread awareness among drivers about the significance of personal health and hygiene for the welfare of society. He added that such camps will be organized on a regular basis in future for the drivers as they hold the responsibility of ensuring the safety of passengers. “They should often keep their health in check and well monitored” he added.
Among the speakers, Chairman AJKTU Ajit Singh, on behalf of Transport Union, welcomed the participants and stressed on drivers to follow traffic regulations strictly for the safety of passengers.
SSP Traffic Faisal Qureshi, CMO Jammu Dr Harbaksh Singh, DySP Traffic Farha, ARTO HQ Rehana Tabassam, Team of Doctors from CMO Office and Representatives from different Transport Unions participated in the event.
