Jammu: Villagers glad as work on construction of road starts

Poonch: Villagers near the LoC (Line of Control) in Poonch district of J&K are glad that the government has started work for the construction of the first road in the area on Wednesday.

The construction has started to connect nine panchayats near the LoC with other areas of the Poonch district.

106-year-old Mr Mangat Ram cut the ribbon and  inaugurated the road construction work to connect the border villages  of  LoC with other areas of Poonch district. However, two years ago a bridge was built at a cost  of Rs 8 crores for Degwar and nine panchayats in Poonch but the locals weren’t able to make use of the bridge because of lack of a road.

The villagers have expressed happiness that in the near future they will be able to travel to other areas in their vehicles or public transport.
