Jammu: 1 held with poppy straw

Poppy straw weighing 30 kg was seized from a truck on Jammu-Srinagar National highway yesterday.
The Udhampur Police received an intelligence, following which a truck (JK02AK8565), travelling from Kashmir to Punjab was intercepted at Jekhani area of Udhampur district on Jammu-Srinagar National highway. On checking, the police recovered illicit poppy straw (Bhukki) hidden in the truck.

Around 30 kg of poppy straws was found in the truck and the truck had been seized. The truck driver identified as Rajiv Kumar of Udhampur was arrested and booked under the relevant sections of NDPS Act, 1985.
