“The criminals are afraid of police” : SSP Samba on crimes in Samba district

Jammu: SSP Benam Tosh on Friday interacted with media and said that the Samba police crackdown on crime and against criminals is still going on and they will curb all illegal activities in the district.

Answering a media query on illegal mining and criminals to the media, SSP Samba Benam Tosh said: “Police is working on it and there is need to work on it but the accused are not related to any terrorism. They are scared of the police action that’s why there is warrant for some of them and police are finding the others.”

“The four challenges that we faced here were: heroin, smuggling, mining mafia and thieves. Now police is working against all of them simultaneously and are being dealt efficiently under law. We have caught around 150 burglars and above 100 smugglers are nabbed and 200 -250 mining vehicles were found. Also, here we have taken strong action in women harassment cases. Police is handling all the illegal activities properly and in future also they will see. Four gangs of (cattle lifter) has been busted by police and investigation is going on. Each local is getting support from the police and public is also coordinating,” he stated.

“Here you will find were different relation between police and public. This kind of relation between police and public is rare. Police is working as public workers and public is also working as public. But I request the people to not do anything by themselves , if they find anything suspicious, contact police. Police has become more efficient and hardworking. Even at mid night, during winter or snowfall and in dark, you will find police there . It is clear that those persons who are already addicted, we will not take any actions against them but we will definately take actions against the suppliers,” he further added.
