According to report, the incident happened when a local man received a call from a cyber-scammer who mimicked the man’s colleague voice and asked money from him by cooking up a story that he needed money for a friend’s treatment and his google pay app is not working and asked the victim that he will send Rs 15000 in his account and he has to send him back.

However, the Jammu based man acted smartly and checked his bank account and found he didn’t received any money thus that is how he saved himself from the cyber-scam.

“I got a call from a man who was talking like my Gujarat based friend. His voice  convinced me as his voice was very similar to that of my colleague. The caller cooked up a story saying that he needed money for a friend’s treatment and I have to send him the amount in 1-2 days.

“When I was about to transfer Rs 15,000 from my account to him I  checked my account and found I haven received no cash then I called my colleague he told me that I haven’t called you. I called back the fraudster and he apprised me that his friend is in hospital and if he dies I will be accused”, said Mr Vipin Malhotra, who saved himself from cyberattack.
