Jammu: ARTO Suspended in graft case

The Jammu and Kashmir government on Thursday suspended an assistant regional transport officer (ARTO) in J&K’s Poonch district in a graft case.

As per report, ARTO Kupwara, Jamshed Rasool Chaudhary who has served as ARTO Budgam earlier  was placed under suspension and has been attached with the Office of Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir yesterday.

The ARTO Kashmir has been told to initiate inquest proceedings in this case and report it in a period  of one month to the concerned department.

The order further directed the Transport Department to initiate departmental proceedings  against the suspended officer.

The official has been suspended over bribe charges. The anti-corruption bureau (ACB) has registered a case FIR No 19/2023 U/S 51E, 52, in this regard.
