Jammu: Several burgled bikes recovered

Jammu: The Rajouri police have arrested a  bike lifter and recovered 7 bikes worth lakhs which he had allegedly stolen from in and around the city on Sunday.

The accused has been identified as Saleem Ahmed from Saranu area of Rajouri . On the basis of bike theft complaints, the police analysed the CCTV footage, investigated cases and arrested him.

“We have recovered seven bikes from him and a probe in this case is still going on. We have more leads and let’s us what we can do more in this investigation.

“One of our police team is also going to Jammu in connection of this burglary case and let’s see how much success we can get in this matter further.

“We have registered FIRs in this case. One of our mosque  prayer leader’s bike was burgled when he went inside a nearby mosque recently and taking help of this case we studied CCTV footages and arrested a man and a juvenile whose name we can’t disclose.

“We have nabbed one Mohd Saleem r/o Saranu and recovered 7 bikes from his possession. We are sure that we will recover more motorcycles in this case.

“The Rajouri police has solved 5 theft cases and two theft cases belong to Darhal police station and we will handover two burgled bikes to them.

“The theft cases we got have been solved and we are probing this matter as the thief has apprised us that he has sold bikes in Jammu and further investigation would tell us more about this case”, SHO Rajouri Police station Aejaz Wani told media.
