Doda accident left no impact: Overloaded vehicle challaned in Jammu

Jammu: It seems that the public transport especially Matadors plying in main Jammu city and other areas which acts as a life line and sometimes death ride have learnt  no lesson even after the aftermath of grisly Doda road accident, which killed 39 people and hurt as many as 17 on November 15 in Assar area of Chenab valley’s district Doda.

The Jammu city traffic police on Sunday afternoon intercepted a Matador bearing registration “JK02W2863” full packed with passengers at Indira chowk in Jammu city. The vehicle was packed in such a manner as if it is the only available Matador for transportation in Jammu just like Dystopian settings in sci-fic movies in which humans are shown managing their life with very minimum sources because major resources have been destroyed by some catastrophe.

It is difficult to steer, drive an overloaded vehicle smoothly and there are high chances that it can meet with a mishap at any time causing several casualties like Assar accident. It seems the people have become thick skinned and numb because the grisly Assar road mishap have left no impact on them.

As per a recently released report by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH), an alarming total of 4,287 lives were tragically lost due to road mishap from 2018 to 2022 in J&K.
