Jammu: Police launch helpline numbers for reporting traffic violations

Jammu: The Traffic police National highway Ramban has launched helpline numbers for reporting traffic violations by public transporters  on Wednesday. The police is issuing these helpline numbers for the passengers who travel in public transport after the aftermath of Doda road mishap which happened on November 15.

As per the report, the Traffic police National highway Ramban   launched a drive of affixing posters on Buses, Matadors, commercial vehicles plying in the district which contains emergency helpline numbers of traffic police personnel for the local people to report overtaking, overloading, rash, negligent driving by the Bus, Matador operators, school buses.

The posters includes emergency helpline numbers for the public to alert the traffic police about rule violations and grievances. The public can share videos, photos, and other details of reckless driving and traffic rule violations on helpline numbers to the city traffic police.

“These helpline numbers are issued by Traffic police National highway Ramban. The people can call on these numbers or can also contact us through whatsapp using these numbers to report rash drivers if they feel the vehicle in which they are travelling can meet a mishap.

“The passengers can call us on these numbers if they see a driver on phone call while driving a bus or Matador or driving the vehicle recklessly.

“The commuters can inform us by taking a picture of the vehicle operator committing a traffic violation through whatsapp and we will take action against that driver”, a traffic police official told passengers after affixing helpline numbers on a public transport.

The police have introduced these numbers for the public to register complaints about traffic violations by public transporters and have assured that strict action will be taken against violators.

The decision comes in the wake of bloodiest accident that killed 39 people and wounded 17 in Assar area of Doda on November 15 Doda.
